iPod and the Auto Sound System

Image
The iPod story seems to be that of a charmed life. If you haven't taken a look around there are all kinds of devices and accessories that are created in order to use right along with the wildly popular and successful iPod product offered by Apple. In fact, I can't think of a better coup for Apple to have pulled off against the giant PC industry, even Microsoft's new product the Zune is having a great deal of difficulty even catching up to the sales that iPod seems to have no trouble garnering. The success is something that may define explanation but could have a great deal to do with the equally popular accessories and adornments that are made for each and every iPod product. You might be wondering exactly what this has to do with auto sound systems but those are just another of the many great iPod accessories that can be found in the market place of today. Seriously! Even some car manufacturers are having upgrades that include iPod adapters that allow drivers to play music...

Heat Detector Alarm Using the UM3561

Image
A very simple heat detector alarm electronic project can be designed using the UM3561 sound generator circuit and some other common electronic parts . This heat detector electronic circuit project uses a complementary pair comprising npn and pnp transistor to detect heat . Collector of T1 transistor is connected to the base of the T2 transistor , while the collector of T2 transistor is connected to RL1 relay . T3 and T4 transistors connected in darlington configuration are used to amplify the audio signal from the UM3561 ic . Heat Detector Alarm Circuit diagram When the temperature close to the T1 transistor is hot , the resistance to the emitter –collector goes low and it starts conducting . In same time T2 transistor conducts , because its base is connected to the collector of T1 transistor and the RL1 relay energized and switches on the siren which produce a fire engine alarm sound . This electronic circuit project must be powered from a 6 volts DC power supply , but the UM3561 IC i...

For the love of football soccer

Image
Our School Team With The Championship Trophy My number 13 is not unlucky for me The Interschool Champion Team Yesterday (29th September 2016), our school team became champion of the Interschool Football (Soccer) Tournament, beating Aga Khan School in the final. I am one of the proud members of our team and am very happy having won our school the first Senior Championship in four years. But, behind this happiness, there is bitterness, sorrow and dissatisfaction. Our school has three football fields. However, the authority does not want us to play too much and does not allow us to play much. There are not many school tournaments to play in either. The school authority wants us to indulge our efforts in studies only and does not want us to play much. So, there is not much practice in school. The sector in which my house is located, has become, like most of Dhaka, a concrete jungle. There is not a single playground in the entire sector. So, to play or practice properly, I had to go to a di...

Metal Detector Based on the TDA0161

Image
These metal detector circuit diagram is based on the TDA0161 monolithic integrated circuit , designed for metallic body detection by detecting the variations in high frequency Eddy current losses. For detecting metals , TDA0161 require an external LC tuned circuit . Metal Detector Circuit diagram Output signal is determined by supply current changes. Independent of supply voltage, this current is high or low according to the presence or the absence of a close metallic object. This metal detector circuit use two LEDs , which offer an visual indication of presence or absence at a metals ,around the coil . To adjust the circuit you need to make sure there is no metal near the coil and then set the fine adjustment to a "Mid position". After that you need to adjust the course adjustment to turn on the LED and , adjust the fine adjustment to turn off the LED. This detector electronic circuit operates over a wide range input voltage of 4 -35 volts .  If you want you can use other va...

How to Capture the Power of the environment by using an antenna

Image
Around us will be a large amount of energy scattered in space, are the RF waves emitted by TV channels, radios, cell phones, computers, etc.. What most people do not know is that we can capture the scattered energy and transform into electricity.  To capture any wave, we have to have a coil in the same resonant frequency, we can also simply capture radio signals by a common antenna and light an LED if we get a strong signal.Setup is simple. You will need an antenna too high, most likely on roof or on top of a mast and make sure that isolated and fixed. Then connect the enameled copper wire antenna and take it to the circuit. Stereo audio player using the PIC32 MCP4822 microSD card and the MDDFS library

Image
Oscilloscope screen capture of output from the audio player Top - left channel Bottom - right channel Using the PIC32MX250F128B, I decided to make a simple audio player. I wanted to play back good quality audio from a large memory space - a microSD card. So, I made this WAV player that can play back 16-bit 44.1kHz WAV files with 12-bit stereo audio output. Of course that's not all it can play back. It is programmed for automatic period configuration so that the period is set on the fly based on the song sample rate. It can play back both 8-bit and 16-bit mono and stereo audio files and I have tested from 8kHz 8-bit mono to 44.1kHz 16-bit stereo. The player itself does not include an audio amplifier to drive speakers but can drive earphones. I've used an external stereo speaker for testing. The hardware is fairly simple! Using the Microchip Memory Disk Drive File System (MDDFS) library, and my previous work using the MCP4822 dual 12-bit DAC, integrating these components to make ...

Hofner Colorama II restoration project part 10 repairing the electronics

Image
Just like everything else on this vintage Hofner Colorama II, the electronics have been treated badly and need some attention. By “badly” I mean that they have been left in a damp or wet environment and the pots are scratchy or cut out completely. The output jack also needs to make better contact. This can hopefully all be fixed with the help of some electrical contact cleaner, but first I’m going to remove all the parts from the pickguard. This isn’t strictly necessary, but since I’m restoring the whole guitar, and the pickguard also needs attention, this is the route I’m going to take. Firstly, here’s the whole pickguard/electronics assembly. As mentioned in another post, the beauty of the Colorama is how the entire electronics circuit is attached to the pickguard and can be lifted out in one go: Here's how it looks from behind: The knobs are removed, revealing some rather disturbing evidence of damp. Check out that rust! Rather that turn the whole pot by accident when I’m unscre...

Speakers Play the Sound but Auto Sound Systems Make It

When you look at auto sound systems it is important to pay close attention to the speakers on the system you are considering. You will find that there are all kinds of components, pieces, and parts that go along with a proper sound system in the world of today's music systems. You need to pay special attention to every single detail along the way of choosing the system that will meet your needs, your budget, and your lifestyle with the most bells and whistles to spare. Some things that are important to remember about selecting proper speakers is that bigger isn't always better. As a matter of fact, bigger speakers are often quite inferior no matter how that might have been different in the past. As technology improves, better things are coming in much smaller packages. You do not have to have a huge set of amplifiers in order to receive not only good quality but also really big sound. I hope I can honestly say that the days of having to remove the backseat of your car in order ...

Auto Sound Systems are more than meets the Eye

The auto sound systems of today are much more involved and complicated than the simple car stereo and speakers of years long past. Today's sound systems have all kinds of bells and whistles that many us could have only imagined during our younger years. In fact, it is quite possible that many of us did imagine these and those imaginings are how they came to be. One thing you need to do before you even begin to put the auto sound system of your dreams together is learn what kinds of components exist, how they work together, and which ones you really think you need as part of your auto sound system and which components you honestly feel you can live without. Life is about compromise and most of us will readily admit that we are quite unlikely to ever use all the bells, whistles, and upgrades that are made available to us within our lifetimes. I don't know about you, but my cell phone has features I've never even gotten around to learning how to use. I know I can use them and...

The Gentle Touch Circuit Diagram

Image
The Gentle Touch Circuit Diagram . Consumer appliances these days hardly ever have a proper mains switch. Instead, appliances are turned on and off at the touch of a button on the remote control, just like any other function. This circuit shows how a device (as long as it does not draw too high a current) can be switched on and off using a push button. The approach requires that a micro controller is already available in the circuit, and a spare input port pin and a spare output port pin are required, along with a little software. When power is applied T1 initially remains turned off. When the button is pressed the gate of T1 is taken to ground and the p-channel power MOSFET conducts. The micro controller circuit is now supplied with power. Within a short period the micro controller must take output PB1 high. This turns on n-channel MOSFET T1 which in turn keeps T1 turned on after the push-button is released. Now the micro controller must poll the state of the push-button on its input ...

Output Inductor Calculation for SMPS Converters using the Forward Push Pull Half Bridge and Full Bridge Topologies

Image
An output inductor is found at the output of every forward-mode converter. Converters utilizing the forward, push-pull, half-bridge and full-bridge topologies are all forward-mode converters. So, calculation of the output inductance follows the same methodology for all four of these popular topologies. The purpose of the output inductor is to store energy for the load during the time each switching cycle when the power switches (BJTs, MOSFETs or IGBTs) are turned off. The electrical function of the output inductor is to integrate the rectangular switching pulses (pulse width modulated signals with varying duty cycle) into DC. The capacitor following the inductor smooths the DC into clean DC. The design of the output inductor is quite simple. Usually, a self-gapped toroid core is used. Gapped ferrite cores (the ones used for ferrite transformers, eg ETD39) can also be used with no difficulties. The formula for calculating the output inductance is: Vin(max) is the highest peak voltage fo...
